Cape Cod Writer's Cooperative to Experiment with Direct Reader Marketing

The Cape Cod Writer's Cooperative, a non-profit cooperative comprised of local Cape Cod writers, comic book artists, and other artisans has just been formed to experiment with ways for writer's to interact directly with readers in the places readers are most likely to congregate.  It is the intent of the Cooperative to encourage local writers to band together and share table-space at popular local venues.  Authors will need to attend all events personally, will be responsible for all their own sales, collecting their own funds (including sales tax), and will need to provide their own FEIN and MA State sales tax identification number.

The first experiment is envisioned to be a weekly table at the Wellfleet Flea Market where members will chip in property they already possess (a tent, tables, display paraphernalia), the weekly entrance fee, and hang out together for a lovely afternoon speaking to potential readers.  It is envisioned this venue will not build the kind of sales a book fair or table at one of the big-time craft or book fairs would net, but the cost is cheap and there is no long-term commitment to the venue (the flea market) if it becomes obvious the experiment is failing.

At the moment, Rick will chip in use of his tent and table.

Anna has coughed up $27 to buy the domain www.capecodwriterscooperative.com for two years.  At the moment, it points nowhere.  Someone more knowledgeable about website setup is welcome to step in and chip in for THAT part of the Cooperative.

Should the experiment prove successful, Cape Cod Writer's Cooperative members will discuss the matter and decide whether or not to take matters to a more formal level.
